Menkoi Sato
West Village • Hokkaido chicken paitan • $$
For anyone searching for the best ramen in the West Village,
Menkoi Sato delivers a taste of Sapporo in downtown
Manhattan.
This Japanese ramen shop builds its reputation on a richly satisfying
chicken paitan broth, paired with springy noodles and
thoughtfully chosen toppings like the perfectly seasoned ajitama
egg.
What sets it apart from other ramen restaurants in New York City is its
Hokkaido-style fried chicken (Zangi)—crispy on the
outside, juicy on the inside, and every bit as crave-worthy as the ramen
itself.
With its intimate Cornelia Street storefront, Menkoi Sato has become a
go-to spot for ramen lovers seeking authentic Japanese comfort food in
NYC.

“Meijin Ramen in Manhattan really impressed us. We started with the karaage
chicken — perfectly crisp, juicy, and delicious with the dipping sauce and
lemon on the side.
The spicy chili ramen had a bold, punchy broth with just the right amount of
heat, balanced by fresh toppings and a jammy egg — definitely a standout if
you like spice.
The tonkotsu ramen was rich and silky, with tender slices of pork, black
garlic oil for depth, and noodles cooked just right. Both bowls felt
thoughtful and satisfying without being overly heavy.
Great atmosphere, quick service, and quality ingredients across the board. A
spot worth coming back to when you’re craving a solid ramen night in the
city.”
